Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Day One

Istanbul > Oylat Cave > Topuk Plateau > Aizanoi Ancient City > Murat Mountain

We set off from Istanbul early in the morning. Our first stop was Oylat Cave, located in Bursa's İnegöl district, unplanned. If you come to Oylat side, you can add the hot springs and Oylat Waterfall to your itinerary. After Oylat Cave, we took a break at a meatball restaurant on the way. Since there was no one but us in the meatball restaurant, we felt a little comfortable.

Oylat Cave is on the Bursa-Ankara road, and when we continue on the same line, we reach Topuk Plateau. This is a beautiful promenade with picnic tables around a small lake. There was no entrance fee or any control when we went. Toilets were closed, may not have been opened during the corona period. It was as if the facility existed but was not opened. There were many picnickers. There is a short walking route around the lake.

The main target of our route on the first day was Aizanoi Ancient City, located within the provincial borders of Kütahya. Aizanoi Ancient City is a very special place as it is home to the best preserved Zeus Temple in the world. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you happen to be this way.

We finished the day on Murat Mountain to be able to camp. However, when the heavy rain started, we gave up the tent and stayed in the bungalows. Details about the bungalows Aizanoi Ancient City You can find it in my article.

Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Second Day

Murat Mountain > Blaundus Ancient City > Ulubey Canyon > Clandras Bridge > Karamanli

After Murat Mountain, we turned our route to Uşak. Our first stop was the Ancient City of Blaundus, which is strikingly similar to Stonehenge in England. There is no entrance fee to the ancient city, it is a bit neglected. I hope restoration and maintenance work will be carried out in the coming years.

Blaundus Ancient City

Only 20 kilometers from the Blaundus Ancient City is Ulubey Canyon. Although the canyon is touted as the second largest canyon in the world, I could not confirm this information from anywhere. There are viewing terraces and walking routes in the canyon.

Ulubey Canyon

30 kilometers from the Ulubey Canyon viewing terraces, there is the Clandras Bridge, located on the Banaz Stream, one of the branches of the canyon. The bridge on the Lydian King's Road was actually an aqueduct built to carry water to the Ancient City of Pepuza. It is a magnificent and beautiful building, there is a large promenade area around it.

After Clandras Bridge, we turned our route to Karamanlı, where my family lives. If you want, you can stop by Salda Lake on the way. We passed because we were going to go another day in a wider time.

When you come to Uşak, you can add Taşyaran Valley and Uşak center to your itinerary. Especially the Uşak Museum is one of the places that should be seen as the place where the Croesus Treasures are exhibited.

Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Third Day

Karamanli > Kibyra Ancient City > Darkdere Canyon > Karamanli

We chose my family's house as the center and went to many places to see in Burdur. On the first day, we went to see the ancient city of Kibyra, which is 40 kilometers from Karamanlı. The ancient city, known as the city of gladiators, has only recently been opened to tourism, so it is little known.

Our next stop after Kibyra Antique City was Siyahdere Canyon, which I went to for the first time. Although the transportation of the canyon is quite difficult, it is a very beautiful place worth seeing. Those who like to be in nature can add it to their routes.

The place where we came out of the canyon is very close to Fethiye, but because of the corona, we skip Fethiye and return to our home.

Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Fourth Day

Karamanli > Sagalassos Ancient City > Karamanli

It is impossible not to come to Burdur and not see the Sagalassos Ancient City. This magnificent city, which has become both the religious and administrative center of the Pisidia Region, is one of the must-see places for anyone who crosses this road. Even though I've been there almost once a year in recent years, it's the place I went to for the first time when I was 5-6 years old, which is why I love ancient cities.

If you go to Sagalassos in June or July, I recommend that you add the Lavender Road, which starts from Isparta Kuyucak and continues from the shore of Burdur Lake to Salda Lake, to your route. Lisinia Wildlife Area and Hacılar Mound are places that must be seen on this road.

Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Fifth Day

Karamanli > Lake Salda > Karamanli

Salda Lake, which is the first place that comes to mind when Burdur is mentioned, is of course one of the indispensable points. I saw Salda Lake in a very good condition this year, after Turkey's influx came here after it became famous as Turkey's Maldives, and cleaning and organization problems were experienced. However, if you go on weekdays and in the evening, you may find it calmer, it is still very crowded on weekends.

Kütahya, Uşak, Burdur Travel Route Sixth Day

Karamanli > Mursel Village Culture House > Karamanli

The best part of spending time in the country is knowing and seeing places that few people know. The Culture House, which was established under the leadership of a retired teacher, Eşref Yurdasiper, in Mürseller Village, a village of Karamanlı, was one of the surprise points of my trip.
