Western Black Sea Tour by Car

Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to work in detail on the Western Black Sea excursion route, as my wife's leave status was determined at the last minute. First, we opened the Western Black Sea map and marked the places we wanted to see on the map. Generally itinerary plan I proceed with this method while I am doing it, first I mark all the places I want to see and then I make the elimination according to my time and budget, this time we applied the same method.

7-Day West Black Sea Travel Cost

Of course, every good thing has an end and a price. We've seen amazing places, met so many sweet people, these are our biggest gains, that's exactly why we travel. However, I know that you are also curious about the financial part of the job 🙂

We went on this journey with my wife, and we made all our stays in a tent, except for one night. Please take this information into account when evaluating costs. This trip was in August 2019, costs may change over time, be aware.

Let's take a look at what the cost of the Western Black Sea trip was then:

7-Day Western Black Sea Trip Transportation Cost

We haven't been driving in Istanbul for a while. We don't want to deal with both cost and traffic nightmare. For this reason, we rent a car for the places we will go by car in Turkey. We also rented a car for our West Black Sea trip. We rented our Ford Tourneo model minivan type vehicle on Carrentals.com for 7 days at a cost of 200 USD, so if we look at the 2019 August rate, we had a rental cost of 1.115 TL.

We made more than 2000 kilometers of roads, we mostly preferred to use mountain roads and coastal roads instead of main roads. For this reason, our fuel consumption may have increased a little. We had a total of 740 TL gasoline costs.

We used parking lots in a few places, we had a parking cost of 25 TL in total.

If we look at the total transportation cost of our trip; 1.880 TL. Since I do all my travel calculations per person, half of it is 940 TL.

7-Day Western Black Sea Trip Food and Beverage Cost

Western Black Sea Trip Food and Drink
Western Black Sea Trip Food and Drink

In our travels, one of the highest items is usually eating and drinking. Husband and wife both love to eat and drink.

I mentioned that we stayed in a tent on this trip. We prepared some of our evening meals and all of our breakfasts ourselves, and the grocery shopping we do for these preparations is also included in the cost of eating and drinking.

Our total cost of eating and drinking for two people was 1107 TL. If we look at the details very briefly;

  • We paid the highest meal price at Mustafa's Place Live Fish, which we ate on the Amasra beach, a total of 250 TL. We have appetizers, rakı and fish in it. It's not that much when you look at it as two people. If you would like to recommend the place, I think there are other places where you can watch the sunset. It's hard to find a place without reservation. I have to say that the food has nothing extra, it's not bad, but it's not great either. But the sunset is great.

  • We made the second highest payment at Cem's Kitchen, located on the beach in Sinop. We paid a total of 150 TL for two people due to the fact that there is alcohol here. It's a fun pub-style place.
  • We made the third highest payment to Hanımeli Restaurant on the beach in İnebolu, 92 TL. There was no alcohol here. But here I ate the best shepherd's roast I've had in a long time. A place that looks ordinary on the beach is recommended.
  • Regardless of the price, Chorbaci Veysel, which we stopped by chance at the Boyabat outlet, also makes very good soups. We paid 3 TL for 27 soups. Drop by if you're in the way.
  • Apart from these, we have reached 1107 TL with our grocery shopping, tea, coffee, beer breaks and lunches.

If I divide the cost of the meal by person again, we have 553 TL per person for food and beverage expenses.

7-Day Western Black Sea Trip Accommodation Cost

When the holiday period started, we did not want to deal with finding a place in hotels. We were both complaining about not being able to camp as much as we wanted this year, we said if we are going to one of the most beautiful geographies of our country, we should camp.

Below you can see the places we stay day by day and their costs.

Day 1: Zonguldak, Eregli, Tas Lake Campground – 40 TL

Tas Lake Campground is a privately run camping area located 21 kilometers from Zonguldak Eregli. Although the distance seems short, the road is a bit rough, so it takes at least half an hour to reach from Eregli.

There are 3 different areas where you can pitch a tent in the camping area: by the stream, by the waterfall and in the forest. There are sinks, toilets, electricity and refrigerator in the common area, which you can use free of charge. When we went on the first day of the feast, it was very calm and we loved it.

We paid 40 TL for the tent at Tas Lake Campground.

Day 2: Amasra, Akkonak, Akarsu Campground – 75 TL

There is no suitable area for camping in Amasra. For this reason, it is best to fault the camping areas in the coves, which are 15-20 km away. We first looked at the camping areas in Bozköy, but it was very crowded and there was no place, so we continued towards the next bay. The stream campground was also very crowded, but they found a place for us. We had already arrived late at night and were going to leave early in the morning, we didn't mind. But if we were to spend time, we definitely wouldn't choose it.

There is electricity, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and beach close to the tents in the camping area. If you want, the place offers breakfast for 25 TL.

We paid 75 TL for the Akarsu Campground, which I think is quite a high fee for such a crowded area.

Day 3: Sinop, Martı Campground – 100 TL

Martı Campground is the closest camping area to Sinop. Later, we saw places where tents were set up in the city center of Sinop, but it was more like places where people set up tents rather than campgrounds. Martı Campground is located 12 kilometers from Sinop.

You can benefit from electricity, kitchen, bathroom, tea and beach services free of charge in the camping area. Pricing here is per person. They said 65 TL per person, we agreed on 2 TL for 100 people.

This is a very organized and large camping area, very convenient for a long stay.

Day 4: Sinop, Uğur Apart Pension – 185 TL

After three days of tent camping, we decided to stay in a hotel for a day to relax and take a comfortable bath. We stayed at Uğur Apart Pansiyon, which is 4,5 kilometers outside the center of Sinop. The rooms are very clean, the breakfast is satisfactory, it is a good option according to the price performance.

We paid 185 TL for two people room + breakfast at Uğur Apart Pansiyon.

Day 5: Samsun, Vezirköprü, Vezirsuyu Nature Park- 40 TL

We crossed the borders of Samsun to see Şahinkaya Canyon. There is currently no suitable area for camping around the canyon on the Kızılırmak coast. Picnic areas have been built, probably a camping area will be opened soon. Until then, Vezirsuyu Nature Park is a pretty good option.

This is a very big park. There are many opportunities in it, from football and basketball courts to walking paths, from country casinos to camellias and kiosks. When we went, there was no one other than us who set up tents, the officer said that we could set up a tent wherever we wanted. A few hours after us, 4-5 more tents arrived. The big park stayed with us for the night.

We paid 40 TL for the tent in Vezirsuyu Nature Park.

Day 6: Kastamonu, Pınarbaşı, Park Ilıca – 50 TL

I think we found the best place to camp in the canyons region of Kastamonu. Park Ilıca camping area, located 12 kilometers from Pınarbaşı district and only 1 kilometer from Ilıca Waterfall.

You can benefit from the kitchen, electricity, toilet, tea free of charge in the camping area. There are also bungalows in the same area, if you wish, you can stay in bungalow houses by paying 125 TL per person including breakfast.

We paid 50 TL for the tent in the Parklica camping area.

We paid a total of 490 TL for accommodation, 245 TL per person.

7-Day Western Black Sea Trip Museum and Ruins Entry Cost

During our trip, the total amount we paid for places such as caves, national parks and castles was 90 TL, and the entrance cost to museums and ruins per person is 45 TL.

We used it in places where Müzekart is available, I think it helped us save about 20 TL.

We paid a total of 3582 TL for two for car rental, petrol, accommodation, food and beverage, museum and ruins entrances, so our cost per person was 1791 TL. We spent 256 TL per person per day. Cost of a 4-day trip to Mytilene It's not bad when compared to Turkey, but it's still too much in the country, what do you think?

Stay on the Road!

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.

  1. I know that in the Western Black Sea you can't pass without stopping by Safranbolu, I wish you would have added that place as well.

  2. If you think that you have visited the Western Black Sea Region without exploring Cide and you have not mentioned Cide, it seems that you have not wandered around here, and you are not making a modern journey by only going to known places and talking about things that everyone knows. Everyone who is known knows. have a nice day

    • As you can imagine, it is not possible to explore every place on a 7-day route. We passed by Cide, but we didn't spend time, so it wouldn't be right for me to write anything about it, because I don't think I traveled properly. You share your information about Cide somewhere, and we read and get informed. In this way, we can better understand the source of your love for cide.
