I had a Schengen visa ready, I did not plan for the October 29 holiday and I received a campaign e-mail from an airline company. That's when it all started! I bought my Budapest and Bucharest return flight tickets for 250TL for Hungary and Romania, which are close to us, cheaper than Europe, but have been on my mind for a while but never made a plan.

Hungary and Romania Travel Route

Due to the intensity of my work, I could not make any plans until the last days. In fact, my intention was to make the route Budapest > Belgrade > Bucharest before. Then I gave up on Belgrade, thinking that I would not be able to give any place its due.

MacaristanOur journey, which we started to spend 2 days in the most beautiful Budapest, the apple of the eye, started with Budapest for 3 days when we loved Budapest very much. Thus, we gave up the salt mines that we originally intended to go to. From Budapest by night train, which takes 15 hours. Romania'in TransylvaniaWe went to Braşov, the center of . After seeing the city of Bran, where the Dracula castle is located, from Braşov, our route came to an end in Bucharest.

Finally my route for 6 days Budapest > Braşov > Bran > Bucharest was shaped. Luckily I had just arranged my place for the hostel on the first day. So I could easily make changes to my route.

Trip Costs

lasting 6 days Budapest > Braşov > Bran > Bucharest containing the route #‎salamdracula My trip tagged all inclusive (airplane, food and beverage, train, hotel etc.) came to 430 euros per person.

These countries on the edge of Europe, EuropeIt is much cheaper and offers similar experiences to Europe. Therefore, it is a must to include in travel plans. The only problem is that our currency is constantly losing value.

As for the expenditure items;

  • Flight ticket I said 250 TL. I bought it from Pegasus with a campaign as a departure to Budapest and a return to Bucharest. And less than 2 months before my departure. You can easily find tickets at these prices by following the campaigns.
  • Already in the summer to go to Norway schengen visa I bought it, so I didn't have to pay for the visa again. This means saving 80-90 euros. Once you get Schengen, you need to use it at least 3-5 times so that you can pay for it 🙂
  • places to stay I mostly chose hostels as I prefer. The Amazing Hostel I stayed in Budapest was 9 euros per person for the first night and 6.5 euros for the second night. We paid more for the first night, both because I arranged it from Booking.com and because it was a Saturday night. I got the second night done for 6.5 euro, which is the weekday price. The Centrum House Hostel in Braşov was 10 euros. Pura Vida Sky Bar & Hostel in Bucharest was 9 euros. So I kept my accommodation expenses pretty low.
  • Since it was the last trip of the year, I was a little extravagant, especially about the food. It was like I didn't spend less than 10 euro on food. Most of my expenses are food.
  • Budapest > Braşov trainThe cost of going with the sleeper train in neither a 4-person compartment was 66 euro. This is the part where I spend the most money. But the views of the train were worth it 🙂
  • I bought things like magnets, tiny plates of dolls, but they don't all cost 12-13 euros.
  • The most enjoyable spending here was the 15euro I paid to enter the thermal pool in Budapest. I gave 7 euros to enter Dracula's castle. Other than that, I didn't spend a lot of money to get into places like museums.

If we look at train and plane ticket expenses as general transportation, My daily expenditure is 48 euros dead. I usually set myself a maximum daily spending limit of 50 euros per day in Europe. So, in my opinion, I didn't spend badly.

We will definitely go back to Romania, especially to visit the Transylvania region in more detail! Definitely recommended for those who haven't been to Budapest yet!

  1. First of all, I did not know how to address, but I will prefer Sevil Abla to be sincere. I hope it doesn't bother you. I have a question. Would the cost be reduced if going to Bucharest first by using the Bosfor express? When I look online, it seems like a price of 15 euros because I am a student. It made sense to me, but it would be best to consult someone who knows. Also, your article was very informative for me. Thank you

  2. There is no other modern traveler who can keep their cost account as well as you and writes their trip costs in such detail. 🙂 I try to actively follow almost 15 travel sites, I guess there is no user-oriented article like Sevil 🙂
If it was Marco Polo or Ibn Battuta, they would definitely follow you 🙂

      • 🙂 Wow 🙂 Actually, this is a great thing 🙂 Of course, we can find a lot of things to make fun of, but your attention to detail shows how much you care about me and your followers like me. Of course, the same may not be the case for your companion 🙂
