Misir, is a country that has hosted the greatest civilizations in history, and the attention of the whole world is always on it because of the mystery of the pyramids. It is a country that has hosted many films about the pyramids and Egyptian civilizations. Egypt's most popular destinations are Sharm-el Sheik due to its underwater richness and the regions with the pyramids, especially Cairo. However, my reason for going to Egypt was different. I've wanted to see for years Abu Simbel TempleI went out to see.

Hurghada and Luxor Trip

If I were to briefly describe my Egypt trip route;

Abu Simbel TempleI flew to Hurghada, which is the cheapest city and the city where I can go directly from Turkey, to the city of Aswan, where it is located. We landed in Hurghada at around 03:00 in the morning and went to the hotel we had previously booked. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. If you are in Egypt you have to bargain with taxis and everyone. We arrived at our hotel for 10usd.

Egypt travelwhat 3 people we were dating. Our friend, who came the day before us, had arranged our tour for the Valley of the Kings and Aswan crossings. The car came to pick us up at 05:00 in the morning. Our private tour with our minibus vehicle and 2 guides started very early in the morning. With a few hours of sleep, we hit the road again.

Do not forget that there is a 1 hour time difference between us and Egypt!

Our first stop is the important city of the Valley of the Kings. Luxor was. I think we traveled for about 4 hours in a geography close to the desert between Hurghada and Luxor. We took a break for breakfast once in a while. We made a big mistake here and bought breakfast without asking for the price, and we ate the most expensive meal of our trip to Egypt. Unfortunately, we tasted the tourist pile at the stop, a place where tour buses stop. We also gave the most expensive toilet fee here.

Do not buy anything without asking price at touristic points in Egypt, make sure to bargain!

When we came to Luxor, our main stops were the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Temple of Luxor. This city on the banks of the Nile is quite smooth. Valley of the Kings and it attracts a lot of tourists because of the important temples. It definitely deserves it. It is one of the important stops of tours on the Nile. The best season for this trip is winter. Although the city The Nile Although it is on the coast, the historical areas are under the sun, there is almost no shade. Don't miss a hat and sunscreen bag, especially if you're white like me! Since I managed to make Goprom Cingöz sunscreen, some of my videos and unfortunately the most critical part are blurry 🙁

Our winter is the best time to visit Egypt's historical sites!

Our lunch was also included in our package tour. After going to a tourist-only place that offers buffet food and having our lunch Abu Simbel'We set out for Aswan, the nearest settlement, to go to Istanbul. Of course, you can't find any local flavor at lunch, classic foods such as salad, pasta, fruit because it is touristic.

There are actually two main roads between Luxor and Aswan; the first is the Nile road, the second is the Desert highway. Since the desert highway has not been used for safety reasons for a long time, both intercity transportation, commercial trucks etc. between countries and tourist vehicles use the Nile road. Unfortunately, as the Nile road passes through the villages along the way, it progresses with constant bumps and traffic jams. And when the Egyptian drivers, who do not know the rules, are added to these, the road will end in 4 hours, but it takes 6-7 hours. Therefore, if you have time, you can get rid of this traffic chaos by using the train or sea route instead of the highway.

Aswan It is a city located on the banks of one of the largest dams in the world, built on the Nile river, and the dam takes its name from this city. You can tour the dam lake with boats called felluka, and you can join hourly or daily tours to see the ancient civilizations that remained as islands in the lake. We could only reach Aswan late at night. In Egypt, as in many hot countries, life begins at night after the sun goes down. After a short market tour in Aswan, we sat down and fell asleep. We were on the road since very early in the morning, and we had to get up very early the next morning to be added to the convoy going to Abu Simbel.

To go to the Abu Simbel temple, we have to set off with a group for security reasons, and the group leaves at 04:00 in the morning. Thus, it is possible to reach the temple early in the morning and return at noon. How to get to Abu Simbel temple Since I wrote in detail, I will not go into details here again, but it is a wonderful place that must be seen.

Returning from Abu Simbel, we had arranged a 2-hour tour of Felluka in Aswan through our guide, but when we arrived in Aswan, our driver said that he could not do it, the guide and the driver had a fight. Unfortunately, the driver was victorious, what happened was that we were on tour and we were a little out of luck. First we blamed the guide, but in the next incident we realized that it was our driver who wanted to be vigilant.

Our journey started at 04:00 in the morning and ended at 10:00 in the evening in Hurghada. Thus, I broke my own record by traveling for 18 hours in one day 🙂 Unfortunately, on the way back, cracks started to form on the special tour for us. Our driver or guide refused to give us our included lunch because we were running too late. Of course, we were there too, saying that if you are Egyptian, we are Turkish, we took out a cingar and we managed to get ourselves a meal. However, it would be more enjoyable without the mentality that tries to screw us up until the last moment!

Unfortunately, the tendency to pile on tourists is common in Egypt, as it is in many underdeveloped countries!

When we arrived in Hurghada, we didn't have a hotel set up, but we thought we'd try our luck at the hotel where my friend, who went before us, stayed the first night. Fortunately, there was a place and we met someone from Turkey while we were talking at the information desk. At that time, we were thinking about what to do for the snorkel tour the next day. We were both tired, sleepless and hungry… When our friend said that he got help from the hotel for snorkeling and that he was very satisfied, we arranged our tour for the next day without hesitation. After 3 friendly temples, we would also see the sea 🙂

Our hotel is right away HurghadaIt was clean and cheap in the center of the city, what more could we ask for 🙂 It came to 12-13 dollars per person.

The snorkeling tour was a program that would take almost the whole day, and lunch is on the boat. We went to the reefs just near Hurghada. The sea was of course very beautiful, the underwater richness was not as much as I expected, but the snorkeling tour was more professional and much cheaper than the one in Zanzibar. We set it to 15usd. Each group had 1 or 2 guides on the boat, and they were constantly accompanying you during the dive and showing you the locations of the fish. In the afternoon, we went to the island and went to the sea from the shore. Colorful fish and plenty of swimming were very satisfying for me.

On the way back, we sat in a place where we could sip our beers and watch the sparkling sea that changes from white to blue. It was evening now and we had a night flight back.

While searching for a local dish for dinner, I immediately jumped when I saw that "falafel" was written in a place that looked like a doner kebab shop. We are lucky that the upper floor of the restaurant, which looks like a shabby doner kebab from the outside, is an interestingly stylish restaurant. We ordered falafel, hummus whatever. We couldn't even finish it, we had a package made, I even ate it at home on the way back. If the falafel is well done, I love it, these were also really well done 🙂

We went to the hotel and slept for a few more hours before boarding the plane and it was time to return :/

We fill our pockets with the happiness of having spent 3 days that are really fast, very tiring, but also very enjoyable and get off the plane in the morning and go to the right job...

3 Days Egypt Trip Cost

The 3 days I went on the route Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan Egypt trip cost Any guesses how long it might have been?

I bought a round-trip ticket to Hurghada by catching one of the campaign tickets of an airline company in February. My duration was only 3 days and the distance between Abu Simbel temple, which I wanted to see for years, and Hurghada seemed close on the map. Convincing my companions, we decided to change the route first to the Valley of the Kings and then to Abu Simbel via Aswan. We still had 1 day left for Hurghada. Then we would leave ourselves to the Red Sea and snorkel.

Egypt Trip Cost

The cost of the trip to Egypt, which lasted for 3 days, was 340 USD per person, excluding the flight ticket. It would be more costly if I was alone.

Looking on the internet, 2-day tours were seen for Luxor – Abu Simbel from Hurghada. We realized later that they were actually boutique, private tours for you. They assign you a minibus, two drivers and a separate guide for Luxor and a separate guide for Aswan. If I were alone, I might not be able to do this organization because of the cost, because they make a total price. When we became 3 people, we divided it into 3, 650USD. It would be even cheaper if we were more crowded. So we paid 216usd per person.

The day snorkel tour was only 15usd.

Hotels cost 12-13usd per person. It could be cheaper or more expensive, of course. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in total. 1 night 650usd is included in the tour.

Eating and drinking is quite cheap in our opinion. When I took out the main items, I spent 70 USD for food and beverage.

Don't complain that I don't have time, I took the opportunity of May 1 holiday without using any annual leave, I fit 3 days and 1 week holiday and came back very happy. Millet on your head 🙂

  2. Hello there,

On the way back from Ebu Simbel, can I learn the name of the hotel you stayed in Hurghada (which is 12-13 dollars) 🙂 and if there is any contact information?

  3. Hello, sir, I have applied for a visa, which I will go to Egypt to visit Cairo and Alexandria soon. I am waiting for the result. My only fear in the trip is that there are certain problems between the states and Egypt is troubled in terms of security, do you think there is such a problem or you can travel easily? can it be done?

    • I don't think anyone will question you in Egypt unless you bring up the issues between states. There is no security problem in Egypt, except for the constant harassment of tourists and theft.
