Route 1: Buying Machu Picchu Online Tickets

The ticket is sold online, you can buy it completely online. But you need to know Spanish. If you do not know, the rest of the article will be very useful 🙂

Click to buy Machu Picchu tickets online >

Step One:

Even though it looks like there is an English option on the site, it actually doesn't, but you can still choose it 🙂

Choose Machu Picchu from the section that says “lugar a visitar” under the section that says “Book online”.
Just below it, select the option you want to buy in the section that says “Seleccione la Ruta”.

Here you can see the options and prices in Peruvian Soles.

  • Machupicchu: 125 SOLES – Entrance to the old city
  • Machu Picchu y Museo: 148 SOLES – Machu Picchu entrance and entry ticket to the Machu Picchu museum. The museum is 5km from Aguas Calientes, I did not go, and I did not come across many.
  • MachuPicchu+Huayna Picchu : 150 SOLES -Entrance ticket to the old city and exit to Huayna Picchu mountain. The mountain you see in all of the classic Machu Picchu photos is the new mountain. The descent and ascent takes about 2-3 hours, you climb the steps made by the Incas. There is a daily limit of people.
  • MachuPicchu+Wayna Picchu : 140 SOLES – Ticket to the old city entrance and ascent to Wayna Picchu mountain. There is also this mountain on the Inca road. It takes 3-4 hours to go up and down from Huayna Picchu higher.

Finally, select the date you will go to from the "date" section.

Choose how many people you want to buy tickets from the section similar to the ticket that opens in the middle. Be careful to buy from the Foreign section, the identity check at the entrance is very strict.

Second step:

  • After choosing the number of people, click on “Step 2”.
  • Completely fill out the form that opens.
  • Click “Step 3”.

Third Step:

  • Enter your address.
  • Accept the rules.
  • Click on “Reserve generating”. MUST NOTE THE RESERVATION NUMBER, which will generate a reservation number for you.

Payment Step:

  • Click on the “Payment” tab.
  • Enter your reservation number.
  • Click “Share”.

Did you think it's over, it's not over yet 🙂

Way 2: You Can Get It in Cuzco

You can buy your ticket from the Instituto Nacional de Cultura (INC) near Plaza de Armas. They show trouble to your hotel or anywhere.

Route 3: You can get it from Aguas Calientes

You can get it at the Machu Picchu Cultural Center in Aguas Calientes. But make sure you have Peruvian Soles with you, they don't accept dollars or credit cards.

I chose the first way as a guarantee, I bought it with my credit card.

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.

  3. Hello, Ms. Sevil, you have prepared a very good article and put a lot of effort into it. Health to your hands.
I will visit Machu Picchu on 24-25 December. I reserved 2 days, I will be there early in the morning and I will return the next day by evening train (peru rail). But I could not get the ticket online from the site. Which ticket and entry times would you recommend?

    • Hello,

I'm so happy for you 🙂
In the morning, you will go to Machu Picchu at sunrise and from there you will go to Huayna Picchu or Wayna Picchu. Huayna is more popular and the exit route is easier. Wayna is the higher one, I had ascended to Wayna.

The first bus up from Aguas Calientes leaves at 5 am for sunrise, but you have to queue around 4 am to get on it. A very long queue will be waiting for you.

  4. Browsing blogs, including yours, for our September trip, let me make a correction to your notes; Wayna Picchu and Huayna Picchu are the same place (Wayna approximation), the other option you mentioned is Mount Machu…

  5. Hello,
First of all, thank you very much for your explanatory article.
I'm going on a trip to South America next week. I'm planning to go to machu picchu around the end of April. I've read a lot of articles to buy the ticket and I'm really confused. There are warnings on some sites that you need to make the payment within 6 hours. While making an online transaction, I saw a warning that we cannot make the payment with foreign cards. on the following website: http://www.escapetraveler.com/getting-to-machu-picchu-how-to-get-to-machu-picchu-peru/
Is this true? Did you make the payment at the time of booking? Did you go? As you said, you shouldn't leave your ticket until the last minute, you can't find a ticket.
I have one last question. I will be traveling alone. I've read a lot about altitude sickness and I was a little intimidated. Did you experience any problems during your trip? Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you so much,
    Springtime

    • Hello,
I paid with my own card and there was no problem. As I explained in the article, I made the payment at that time.
Get your ticket as early as possible because there is a limit of 2000 people per day, otherwise you won't be able to get in.
I've never been affected by altitude sickness, but I've met people who have been very affected. 1. The constitution issue, I think my low blood pressure worked for me. 2. It is necessary to consume plenty of fluids and less food, I may have lost a few kilos during the trip. 3. Coca is used a lot there to protect against altitude sickness, it is used in tea, sugar, etc. I consumed a lot. Legal in Peru, no problem.

      Yours

    • Really great convenience for those going, so many people asked while I was on the road. No one seemed to know exactly what to do. That's why these were the first posts 🙂

  6. I hope I can click on the links and start buying tickets as soon as possible 🙂 My biggest dream in South America, especially Machu Picchu and Uyuni with a little water 🙂 By the way, can you tell us which option you used? 🙂

    • Hello Merve,
I hope you realize your dream as soon as possible.
It's like I mentioned it in the article, I bought it online, the ticket image I used is my ticket 🙂
