I have been in 23 different locations in South America for 20 days in Chile, Peru and Bolivia. I traveled very fast, I had very good experiences. Of course, every good thing has a price 🙂 South America travel cost Read on for all the details about…

How Much Does a South America Travel Cost?

So how much did this trip cost me?

I've been asked a lot what the total cost of my travel with 23 days, 3 countries, 20 cities, 8 countries/intercity flights, 13 bus journeys and many more activities was ALL INCLUSIVE?

THE TOTAL COST OF MY SOUTH AMERICA TRAVEL IS 3.940 USD.

How Many Lira Do I Spend Daily in South America?

It took 8 plane trips that I made the biggest item. 3940USD of 2.294USD is airplanes. Excluding the planes, I actually spent only 23USD in 1.645 days. It comes to a figure like 71USD per day. If you are not constantly on the move with the fear that I will see a lot of places in a short time as I do, your daily budget will go down much lower.

How Much is a Hostel in South America?

If we look at the average figures, I actually gave an average of 8USD to the hostels I stayed at. My hotel number seems very low since the package tours include accommodation. It is also possible to find hostels for cheaper, but I usually stayed in nice/enjoyable hostels, you can easily reduce the average to 6USD if you want.

Is Food Expensive in South America?

In South America, you can eat quality food at very affordable prices, and you can eat it on the street for 1-2 USD. I paid 21 USD as the highest meal bill during my trip, and I spent more on wine and cocktails than on food 🙂 As a matter of fact, drinks take up more space in the item you see as food and drink. 5-6 USD is enough for an average meal.

Have I Spent Too Much on Urban Transportation? What?

This cost is high as I use taxis to and from airports. I used a lot of subways, buses, elevators, cable cars, ferries, whatever I found, of course, it also has an effect 🙂

What's Included in Package Tours?

Package tours are my biggest expense item after planes. If I were to list these tours, which are very beneficial for me to act quickly:

  • Paracas-Huachichina Tour from Lima (2 days) – 100USD
  • Nazca Mummies Tour in Nazca (4 hours) – 14USD
  • Sacred Valley-Machu Picchu Tour from Cuzco (2 days) – 200UD
  • From Cuzco to Puno-Floating Islands-Copacabana crossing (1,5 days)- 70USD
  • 3USD for Death Road (day trip), Pampas Tour (3 days), Jungle Tour (daily tour) and Uyuni Tour (380 days) with a single company

It is always possible to spend less and more. I sometimes ignored the additional costs in order to act quickly. I did not spend any unnecessary expenses. Under the gift item, there are also items such as sweaters, gloves and berets that I used there. I just bought myself an extra shawl and magnets from the places I went.

I'm glad I did, I'm glad I went on this trip and forced my conditions.

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.

  1. 3USD for Death Road (daily), Pampas Tour (3days), Jungle Tour (daily) and Uyuni Tour (380days) with a single company
DOES THIS TOUR COMPANY HAVE ADDRESS? Is it written as amazon jungle.. are you satisfied, my love.

  2. Hello there! Can I learn the route details about your trip? I also want to tour South America this summer by myself. I just started my research now and yours was the first article I read. Also, I would be very happy if you write down the things you want to see or try for sure.

  3. I wore it with great pleasure. I felt every minute of the excitement you felt. These are too valuable to be included in the invoice. I am looking forward to your new route :)

  4. Sevil, I followed your trip with great pleasure. I hope you find the sponsors you deserve and travel as you please.

  5. The money Gülçin Söğüt spent on her 95-day South American adventure is almost equivalent to what you spent in 23 days. This probably shows that the direct proportion of "the longer the trip, the more expenses" is not that correct 🙂

    • I remember that there are no long flights at the cost of Gülçin. They are already the biggest pen.
As I mentioned in the article, there were cases where I incurred the cost for speed. That's why my daily budgets are higher than Gülçin, of course.
