We said what to eat in Gaziantep, what to eat in Antep, where to eat and set off. Two days at the weekend, we wandered around Gaziantep food places one by one and cheered our palates!

TurkeyYou know that I love Turkey very much and that I explore the historical, natural and cultural riches of our country at every opportunity. I think for the third time—maybe four— PistachioI went to Actually, I don't go to the places I go to again and again, but this situation is a little different for Turkey. I'm making a torpedo for my own country. GaziantepThe only reason I go to Gaziantep so many times is Gaziantep food 🙂

This trip, I had to eat a lot. I ate a lot in Gaziantep, where I left on Friday evening and returned on Sunday evening.

Sakip Usta

Sakip Usta
Sakip Usta

As soon as you get off the plane on Friday evening Beyran We went to Sakıp Usta for a drink. It was quite crowded even when we went around 12 at night. Butterfly in the same row was another recommended place. We'll have to try it next time, too, it's a pity the people there were upset when we didn't go.

What is Beyran?

Beyran
Beyran

This local dish known as Beyran soup or Beyran is eaten for breakfast in Antep. An intense dish with lots of spice and garlic, with lamb and rice in it. I'm not very good with pain, but it is so delicious that I ate it with tears from the pain (i.e. tears came from my eyes). As far as I know, giblets are included in it, but in the recipes I looked at the internet, only lamb was written, I am their liar. It becomes a butterfly, it becomes a Sakıp Usta, it becomes stamina (resistance is more authentic) It is a flavor that you should not return without eating when you go to Antep…

Orchid Patisserie

Orchid Patisserie

Actually, our plan for Saturday morning was to go to Metanet restaurant to drink beyran, but because we got it done the night before. plyi and Pistachio breakfast famous for Orkide Patisserie'what we were sent At Orkide Patisserie, katmer is 25TL, mixed Gaziantep breakfast is 35tl. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but especially katmeri is definitely worth a try. One of them is enough for 1 people to taste, don't exaggerate like me.

Zeugma Museum

After breakfast, I visited the Zeugma Museum, which is a must-see when visiting Gaziantep. I had visited before, but since my last visit, the museum had been expanded a bit. Some parts are under renovation, new mosaics are added. So it's always worth seeing.

It would be desirable that the city of Zeugma would not be submerged under dam waters. Let's see these magnificent mosaics and works in their original place. We could not save the old city, but the museum must be given its due. One of the most beautiful museums I've seen in Turkey. If you wish, you can listen to the stories of all the mosaics with headphones.

If you have a museum card, the entrance to the museum is free. If you don't have a museum card, only 10TL entrance fee. If you want to buy headphones, you pay an extra 10 TL. If you have time and interest, you can listen to the story of all the works one by one from the audio guide.

Küşlemeci Halil Usta

After we've had our fill of history in the Zeugma museum, it's time to fill our stomachs. Famous, one of the first places to eat in Gaziantep, 200 meters from the museum. Küşlemeci Halil UstaWe went to get our fill. Although we weren't hungry for breakfast yet 🙂 Halil Usta is a nostalgic kebab shop. Küşleme is the most famous kebab of the region. It is said that Halil Usta is a friend of the poor and that the poor children in that neighborhood definitely feed their stomachs.

He sits at the cash register himself and always chats with everyone. Another feature is that it tells the account according to the type of people at the cashier. For example, we paid 4TL for 120 people while we should have paid at least 140-80TL for the account. The salad and buttermilk that comes in a big bowl are just as delicious as its shish. They close the shop at 14:00 at the latest, so be sure to go before it's too late. Do not be afraid to see the crowd when you go, the service is very fast despite the crowd.

What is Downsizing?

A piece of meat, approximately 15 cm long, extending from both sides of the sheep's spine. This meat, which is lean and nerve-free, is one of the most expensive meats because it is rarely found. Since it is unnerved, it is served with the softest mutton and seasoned, only salted and lightly cooked on the barbecue. We can say that it is eaten like Turkish delight, not meat.

Koçak Baklava

Koçak Baklava
Koçak Baklava

After Halil Usta, we said let's eat baklava on top of the meal and went to Koçak Baklava, almost running 🙂 Of course, there are many baklava shops in Antep, after all, it is the homeland of baklava. But Koçak had 5-6 baklava shops, only Koçak was overflowing. Moreover, it is locals, not tourists. Don't just think of classic baklava. Şöbiyet, wrap, creamy, creamless, pistachio, walnut… One feels in heaven. My favorite was the leaf şöbiyet.

After eating so much, we decided to take a tour now. 🙂 Half a day was enough for places to visit in Antep. Since I wrote in detail when I went before, I decided not to repeat the list.  Gaziantep places to visit You can visit my article.

We got pretty tired after talking about Inns, Coppersmiths' Bazaar, Almacı Market, Bey Mahallesi, Tahmis coffee. We said let's go back to the hotel, have a rest for dinner and then leave. We told him to, but on the way back to the hotel, we couldn't stand the smell of liver. We came out of Cigerci Mustafa's, which we entered to eat a little liver, and ate a portion each. It was very nice, I have no regrets 🙂 We paid 17TL for the portion of liver.

Akinal Station Restaurant

We made reservations for Akınal Station Restaurant for the evening. We had a small problem that we couldn't melt what we ate all day. But this did not stop us. The Gar Restaurant is a very beautiful place with aged masters and waiters, high ceilings, and an old-fashioned tavern atmosphere. However, since the station will be closed soon, this place will also be closed, so you went, you did not go, maybe you will never go.

We went and chose our appetizers first, and ordered hummus, Arabic mezes, hot peppers and something I don't remember, according to the chief waiter's recommendations and our taste.

Although we were very full after the appetizers, we also tried the loquat kebab, which is recommended to be tried. When we didn't want dessert at the closing, our establishment offered a very simple but equally delicious strawberry-tahini-molasses. We couldn't get enough of eating and drinking 🙂

We paid 50 TL per person with our raki, appetizers and kebab. I think if we ate this dish in Istanbul, we would have paid between 120-150.

Katmerci Zechariah Master

Katmerci Zekeriya Usta

We got up early again on Sunday morning. This time we went to Katmerci Zekeriya Usta for breakfast. Here, katmer is served with hot milk. This is more of an artisan business, a more modest business, but Zekeriya Usta's son takes care of everyone who comes and chats with them one by one. He also shows you the making of katmer. They add the cream that I have eaten in 1 year to a layer 🙂 Katmer's are 14TL each here.

After breakfast, we set out to see the rest of the ancient city of Zeugma and then to Halfeti with the car we rented. We caught a campaign for car rental and rented it for 80TL per day, it was very economical when there were 4 people. Zeugma Ancient City is 50 km from Gaziantep, entrance is free. The distance between Halfeti and Zeugma-Belkıs village is about 50-60 km.

halfeti Be sure to check out my post.

Birecik Gulbaba Restaurant

Birecik Gulbaba Restaurant
Birecik Gulbaba Restaurant

On our way back from Halfeti, we stopped in Birecik to eat the best eggplant kebab in the world and stopped by Gülbaba Restaurant. Don't forget to eat poppy kebab alongside eggplant kebab. It was also nostalgic to see the papers that were used instead of napkins in a glass from my childhood. Moreover, the account came to only 17 TL per person.

When we got back to Antep, they bought tomato paste, peanuts and baklava. Stopped by Koçak once again, and the baklavas were ingested again. When you see how many varieties of pistachio, baklava, tomato paste, and ground pepper there are, one's mind is astonished. We went to Tahmis coffee, which is an Antep classic, and the coffees were drunk again.

Imam Cagdass

Imam Cagdass
Imam Cagdass

The closing for the golden kick was done at İmam Çağdaş. My favorites are the garlic lahmacun, simit kebab and ali gentle kebab. I ignore the negative comments about Imam Cagdas, I have received excellent kebabs and good service every time I go. What more could I want? Kebabs are around 20TL. We paid 18TL per person because we ordered the kebabs.

Vedat Milor Gaziantep Advice

Before I go to a place, there are two places I look at where and what to eat: first, does Vedat Milor have any suggestions about the place when I go? Did Löplöpçüler go where I'm going, do they have any suggestions? So far, neither has disappointed me. Of course, Vedat Milor's Gaziantep suggestions were also valuable to me.

Vedat Milor's suggestions on where and what to eat in Gaziantep;

  • In Metanet or Arasa, trotter soup, that is, beyran soup,
  • Onion lahmacun at Imam Çağdaş,
  • Katmer in Usta Zekeriya,
  • Şöbiyet in Zeki İnal,
  • Baklava in Koçak.

I've tried all of them except Zeki İnal and I'll sign it!

Gaziantep is a city where you can spend a few days, very suitable for a weekend getaway, and where you can spend time to the fullest.

Before you go other Gaziantep travel articles You can also take a look.

Stay on track.

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.

  1. I think you should take a look at Urfa cuisine, not Antep. Because the main dishes are made there, desserts are made there, but we are selling antep. Even local products, I can say that most of them are from Urfa.

  2. delete the orchid patisserie, my brother, I think, I paid 120 TL to the men, they did not give tea, I reproached the waiter.

  3. You missed the burrito muzo, karsiyaka is located on the opposite street of safety tin, don't come back without having a super taste
I've tried all of them, celebioguls are super taste.

  4. I will make an offer for Beyran. For breakfast, one should go to fortitude around 6 o'clock and have a drink there. Because they make the beyran differently in other places, it is better here.

As for Kelebek, the soup that should be drunk here is not Beyran, but trotters. In Turkey, the best trotter is served in Antep.

Master Halil is a very good choice, but for those who miss the time of master Halil, a second restaurant opened by his son is available in the Ibrahimli side of the Metro (market), open even in the evening hours.

While you're at it, freshly squeezed fruit juices should also be tried in places on the road, and atoms should be drunk here again.

Also, if you find the toaster under the castle, you must eat it, (I don't remember the exact name, but the toast may be kadir)
Be comfortable with the baklava, Koçak is super but a little salty, but don't be fooled by the fact that Güllüoğlu is famous. Opt for whole pistachio baklava. The cheap and delicious advice is from the master pilgrim, a little after you pass the statue of atatürk in the center.

And don't forget, chicken shank is a flavor that should be tried at the beginning of Nur Ocak (Karşıyaka Neighborhood).

Also, what I say never to leave the pita without eating it is chickpea wrap. Don't miss it, there are definitely chickpea wraps in Fiko - apart from that, there are a few other famous masters. Then there is the issue of lahmacun, the famous lahmacun of antep, it is generally known as a restaurant, but my advice is (to make it cheaper and to taste the tastier one) in every neighborhood, the butcher-grocer-bakery trio is side by side, enter one of them and tell them how many lahmacun you want in total. Don't miss the opportunity 🙂

    • But is it cursed like this 🙂
Kidding aside, I'm back without gaining weight, I don't understand how it happened 🙂

      • Is Zeugma museum worth going 50 km away?
I don't think I want to rent a car because they want various documents from me.

        • Hello,
Zeugma museum is not 50km away, it is in the center of the city. The real settlement of Zeugma, which is 50 km away. Depending on your area of interest, the criteria for touch change, I went 2 times, it was definitely worth it.
