  • The main language of Jordan is Arabic.
  • The official religion of Jordan is Islam and 95% of the country is considered to be Muslim.

Is Jordan Safe? Can You Go to Jordan Per Woman?

Because it is a Middle Eastern country, people have question marks about Jordan. However, these question marks are the state of being afraid of ignorance and the unknown. I can confidently say that Jordan is the safest among the countries I've been to in the Middle East.

“Would you go to Jordan per woman?” If you ask me, my answer is: "yes, we will go". However, it should be kept in mind that men in Middle Eastern and Arab societies act a little too sincerely when they see white women. For this reason, even if there is no shortage of clothes, it is useful to keep away from too revealing and short clothes, remembering that you are going to a country where 95% of them are Muslim.

I went to Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, even Iran in that region. I have neither had a security issue nor a bad experience. Of course, when I went to Syria, there was no civil war in the country, let me not pass without mentioning that. Unfortunately, the source of these security concerns is bias. Just like Europeans think there is a security problem in Turkey. To get rid of our prejudices, you should go and see those countries, sit with their people and have tea.

How to Get to Jordan? Where is Jordan?

Jordan is an Arab country located in the Middle East. It is neighbor to the most complex regions of the world with Syria in the north, Iraq in the northeast, Saudi Arabia in the south and east, Israel in the west. However, let me reiterate that this situation does not affect Jordan in terms of security.

The safest way to go to Jordan right now is to go by plane. I used to go through Syria on the land route, but now it is best to choose the plane.

Pegasus and Turkish Airlines have regular flights from Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya. While Pegasus flies to Amman round-trip, Turkish Airlines also flies to Aqabe. Aqabe flights are a bit more expensive as far as I can see. Research alternative flight prices before you go anyway.

Another option would be to cross from Israel to Jordan. If you plan a trip that covers both Israel and Jordan, you can switch from Israel to Jordan. Round-trip airfare to Israel is often much cheaper than to Jordan.

Do you have a Jordan Visa? Does Jordan Require Visa From Turkish Citizens?

Since 1 December 2009, thanks to the agreement between Jordan and Turkey, if you are traveling to Jordan for touristic purposes, you can travel visa-free for up to 90 days. In other words, Jordan does not require a visa from Turkish citizens traveling for touristic purposes!

When entering the country, your passport must be longer than 6 months, which is a rule that is valid for almost the whole world.

Favorite country type 🙂

Best Time to Go to Jordan

If we are preparing a Jordan travel guide, it should be noted when Jordan's high season is. The best time to go to Jordan is stated as April. However, it should not be forgotten that the country is a country in the north-south direction, while the south coast is the sea coast, the desert in the middle part, the height increases upwards. In other words, when you go to Jordan, remember that the temperature difference between day and night is high in the desert, and you must take your swimsuit with you to enter the sea and the Dead Sea.

The coldest period in the country from January to March, while the warmest period from June to September. I would not recommend you to go, especially during the summer season, visiting Petra or the desert under the scorching sun will not give you any pleasure.

Transportation in Jordan

There are many options for places to visit in Jordan and these places are usually 2-3 hours away from each other. For this reason, the ideal way to visit the country is to rent a car or take a tour.

Intercity roads are generally smooth, but it is not possible to keep the speed constant as you have to slow down in transitions such as cities and villages. In this way, it is the advantage of renting a car to wander around the villages and cities.

What's in a Jordan Travel Bag?

If you are going to visit the whole country on your way to Jordan, you should definitely not forget to buy both thick and thin clothes.

If you're going to stay in the desert, the day and night temperatures are pretty high, so you'll need something thick to wear at night.

If you have the Dead Sea and Aqabe on your Jordan itinerary, don't forget to take a swimsuit, bikini, towel and slippers with you.

As I mentioned before, it is useful to remember that you went to the Middle East and Arab countries. Try not to choose clothes that are too revealing, too short, or too conspicuous.

In Muslim countries, you must have a shawl with you/in your bag. It is very useful to cover your head when you go to places such as mosques or places of worship, and if you are wearing short shorts, tie it like a skirt. I prefer sarongs in the Far East, which are wider and longer than shawls. Thus, I can use it as a head cover when necessary, as a pareo.

Is Jordan Expensive?

Jordan is unfortunately an expensive country for us. Due to the high number of touristic points, the entrance fees to the ruins increase every year with the effect of attracting serious tourist traffic in recent years. While I entered Petra in 2010 for 50 usd, now the entry price has increased to 127 usd.

Meals are also expensive for us, especially in touristic spots. My suggestion is to arrange your hotel with breakfast included and prepare a sandwich for breakfast for lunch. If you take a snack or something from Turkey with you, you will have a healthy snack.

Don't think that Jordan, in our birth, is cheaper than Europe. Fortunately, the fact that there are so many beautiful places to see in Jordan allows us to cover these costs blindly 🙂

With the advantage of its geography and history places to visit in Jordan The list is quite large, you can take a look at my article for the full list. Here are the places you should definitely see when you go to Jordan;
