Georgia's busiest city Tbilisi and the largest airport Tbilisi International Airport. Most of the foreigners coming to Georgia prefer the airline. On the way back, I made my Tbilisi-Istanbul flight via Tbilisi Airport. I wanted to share with you my experience about transportation to Tbilisi International Airport, the facilities at the airport, I hope it will be useful.

In the meantime, to come to Georgia; Flying to Batumi or Kutaisi are other options. Generally, cheap airlines fly to Kutaisi, and Pegasus has started to fly at some point, but I guess it doesn't continue because it can't fill the planes.

About Tbilisi International Airport

Tbilisi Airport is 17 km from the city center. There are basic needs such as a 24-hour exchange office/bank and ATM in the terminal. There are also places where you can spend time, such as restaurants and cafes. Since many Turkish tourists come to Georgia, you can also exchange Turkish Lira at exchange offices, you do not need to carry foreign currency with you.

There is free Wifi in Tbilisi Airport, airports with free wifi are my favorites 🙂 If you land in the country, you haven't renewed your phone line yet, airport internet is lovely to give you quick directions on what to do. You can connect to the “Tbilisi Airport Free” network for free and indefinitely.

Can You Sleep at Tbilisi Airport?

If you are going to spend a long time at Tbilisi Airport, the seats in the waiting room are very comfortable. And again, my favorite sofa model because it has no armrests, so you can sit long and even sleep comfortably.

Due to my flight time (04:45 am) the airport was quite secluded, so I had no trouble finding a place to lay my feet, but I'm not sure how it would be during the day.

Transportation to Tbilisi Airport from the City Center

Transportation options from Tbilisi Airport to the city center and to the airport in the city center have increased in recent years with the increase in the number of tourists. Let's take a look at the transportation options to Tbilisi Airport together.

Bus

The most economical way to reach Tbilisi Airport is by bus. Moreover, even late at night, there is a bus every 30-40 minutes. The number of the bus to the airport is 37, and the one that runs at night is 137 (1 per night bus). The bus departing from Rustavelli square passes from Freedom Square and passes through the city center and reaches the airport in approximately 40 minutes. Moreover, this bus costs only 0,50Lari for the normal city bus price.

Since the night bus number 137 passes from the station in front of the hostel where I am staying, I chose to go to the airport with this bus.

Train

There are train services from Tbilisi central train station to the airport. Train times are determined as morning and evening only, so I can not say that it is very useful. Tbilisi train times It's a good idea to check the link as it may change.

Taksi

As in every airport, many taxis are waiting for you at the exit of Tbilisi airport. It costs 20usd on average from the airport to the city center. If you say you must take a taxi, Yandex Taxi is very common in Georgia, you can try it.

The transportation prices, durations and timings given in this article are the data of the period I went to. Since I do not update retrospectively, I kindly request you to pay attention to the date of the article and plan accordingly 🙂
