Why European Capital?

Strasbourg, interestingly “Capital of Europe”, because the headquarters of many organizations are located here. Like the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the European Commission of Human Rights… It has also been hosting European Union meetings since 1949.

Along with Geneva and New York, Strasbourg has had the opportunity to become one of the few cities that has an international organization center without being the capital of the country.

How to get to Strasbourg?

Francebeautiful and quaint city of StrasbourgDo you want to go to but don't know how to go? I would also recommend you the way I used as an answer to the question of how to get to Strasbourg.

  • First of all, there is an airline that goes to Basel-Mulhouse airport. You can find other alternatives besides THY and EasyJet.
  • If the shuttle times from the airport match, it takes 15-20 minutes to get to Mulhouse. HYou can see the service hours on the Avaalan website.
  • Another option is taxis. Taxi from airport to Mulhouse train station costs 60€.
  • You have many train alternatives from Mulhouse train station to Strasbourg. You can buy your tickets online before you go.
  • Strasbourg train station It is very close to the city center, I highly recommend getting there by train.

  1. European cities, especially their capitals, have always fascinated me in terms of architecture and planning. In our case, the situation is deplorable. Supposedly, our most beautiful city is Istanbul, but it is a disgrace in terms of city planning. Recently, I watched a documentary on the Byzantine Walls on a national channel. Believe me, I was devastated while watching. We could not protect these beautiful 1500-year-old city walls, which are not found in any city in the world. Most of them were demolished and ugly slums were built inside. What would it be like in another country?

    • This would certainly not have happened in Europe. They really take care of their history and take good care of it.
