Sapadere Canyon
The canyon, which is a karst formation, is 750 meters long and 400 meters above sea level. Starting from the starting point of Sapadere Stream, the canyon also meets the drinking water needs of Sapadere Village, which it gives its name to.
In order for the canyon to be visited as a tourist attraction, walkways with wooden platforms were built on steel construction, some parts were protected with wire for security, ladders for swimming in the creek were built, and it was opened to visitors in 2008.
At the entrance of the canyon, there is a picnic area and a picnic area where you can relax under the plane trees, a restaurant, stalls where you can buy souvenirs and local products. Here, a pond has been created by damming in front of the water, and you can enter the water.
With a short walk from the promenade, you can reach the gate with a paid entrance. After the paid entrance, there is a cafeteria halfway down the approximately 350-meter wooden walkway. So there are many options for breathing and eating and drinking.
There are two beautiful waterfalls within the hiking trail; Twin Falls and Great Falls.
Twin Waterfall
My favorite spot in the canyon is Twin Falls. When you reach about half of the walking path, you will see the waterfall and the pond in front of it. If you wish, you can enter the water from here. The water is magnificent, sparkling, you will fall in love with its color. Beware, the rocks are quite slippery, and the water is icy because it was formed by the melting of the snow waters of the Taurus Mountains. I would like to say that you get used to it when you enter, but it is not very used, it is more suitable for cooling off quickly.
Great Waterfall
When you reach the end of the canyon, you will see the Great Waterfall. The pond formed under the waterfall is still suitable for entering the water, it is still icy, the rocks are slippery again. I guarantee that when you enter the cool water, you will relieve all the tiredness of the canyon.

Sapadere Canyon Safari Tour
If you do not have the opportunity to come to the canyon with your own vehicle, you can join the daily safari tours departing from Alanya. I tried to explain the tour route with open-top jeeps below;
They pick you up at your hotel around 09:00 in the morning. There is a point where all jeeps meet, they gather here as the vehicles proceed in convoy. There is a grocery store at the meeting point, where you can get your necessities such as water or snacks. After all the vehicles have met, a photo break is given in Sapadere as they move towards the canyon by crossing the village roads, creek and hill.
The first stop of the tour is Silkworm Production Facility. The people of the region made their living by producing silkworms. You can see insects, cocoons and silk products at the location of the production facility. This is also the breakfast spot, if you leave the hotel without breakfast, you can fill your stomach with snacks such as pancakes and tea.
After breakfast, we slowly rise among the pine trees and reach the canyon. There is a one-hour break in the canyon. This time is enough for you to walk to the end of the canyon, to enter the water and even to have a cup of tea. On the way back from the canyon, stop at the handicraft market and the Dwarfs Cave. Now that we are hungry again, we take a lunch break on the shore of Sapadere. You can choose chicken or fish for dinner, there is a choice of salad, pasta/rice. When we rest and have a full stomach, we go back to Alanya around 17:00.

Where is Sapadere Canyon?
The canyon is located within the borders of Sapadere Village of Alanya. Kanyon is located 45 km from Alanya city center and 40 km from Gazipaşa Airport. The entire road is asphalt. To go to the Canyon; After the 22nd kilometer of Alanya-Gazipaşa highway, it will be enough to follow the road to Demirtaş town to the north. You will always see directional signs along the way.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to reach the canyon by public transport. You can come with a private vehicle or daily Sapadere Canyon Safari Tours departing from Alanya.

Canyon entrance fee; 12 TL for adults, 6 TL for children, and free for 0-6 year olds. You can visit the canyon between 08:00-20:00.

In order for visitors to enter the water, stairs and landing points were designed at the points where the water is pooled, and it was extremely beautiful. But remember that the water in the canyon is cold as it comes from the mountains!
Of course, the water temperature changes according to the season, if you go in the spring, it will be colder because the snow water has just melted. When I went in May, the water temperature in the canyon was around 12-14 degrees.
