First of all, I should point out that the costs and mode of travel mentioned in this article may not be a vacation that everyone can afford. Life is all about choices, my choice was to see Norway's natural beauties at all costs, even for a short time. If you evaluate the article from this perspective, it would be very good. Keep reading to see what I did to cut costs 🙂

We made a somewhat difficult plan to fit a lot of action in just 3 days.

You can find my Norway travel itinerary from this article.

Norway Trip Cost

NOTE: Please do not forget that the date of this trip was 2015 and the euro rate at that time was 2.91 🙁

3 daily Norway trip total cost 1.083TL per person kept it. Almost the same as my Egypt trip. Even I was surprised that I could afford it so cheap 🙂

Let's take a look at the details, shall we?

  • to go to norway Istanbul-Oslo flight ticketI can say that I bought it as soon as Pegasus Airlines opened its Oslo route. A round-trip ticket cost 465TL. If it wasn't for the holidays, it could have been found much cheaper.
  • for Norway schengen visa There is a condition. If you do not have a Schengen visa for a long time like me, 240TL visa cost. While I have a 6-month Schengen visa, I will take a few more European routes with this visa, so I did not add this cost to the total cost.
  • One of the major expenditure items Oslo-Bergen train tickets of course. The earlier you buy train tickets, the cheaper you can get. I couldn't get it too early, because my plan was not finalized, I bought it for 260TL for a round trip. You can get your tickets at www.Nsb.no.
  • To get from Bergen to Trolltunga 1 day car rental we did. Rentalcars.com We rented our vehicle from Car rental cost is 57 pounds, that is, approximately 240TL, half of it cost me 2TL since we were 120 people. Maybe 4 people can reduce the costs even more. We rented from Rentalscar.com.
  • Apart from car rental, of course, there are other costs as well. gas cost At the beginning of these, the vehicle we rented was a hybrid vehicle and it burned very little. We did a 1km road for 600 day and we had 95TL of gasoline costs, 43TL per person since it was divided into two.
  • We have another expense item that we did not foresee, highway costs. Most of the road we used between Bergen and Odda was a toll road, there was also a bridge crossing. There is a device like our hgs in the vehicle, travel costs are added to the credit card later.
  • On the first night, the plane landed in Oslo at around 02:30. We slept in the airport seats until morning. We went to Oslo center with the 08:00 train in the morning. We spent the second night on the Oslo-Bergen train. Only one night hotel costWe had one in Bergen. We stayed at the Bed & Breakfast, Ole Bull Apartments Bergen, right in the heart of the city. It was like 250TL per night, it came to 125TL per person.
  • Let's get meal expenses on the subject… I did not pay for the meal, except for one meal. I was afraid that Norway would be expensive, so I packed sandwiches, canned food, and junk food in a bag and left. I also took a thermos and filled it as soon as I found hot water, and that's how I solved my love for coffee. I also had a water bottle with me, I didn't pay for the water because the water flowing from the fountains was drunk. But if you say what would happen if I gave; 1lt of water is around 33-8TL. A hamburger menu was 10-30TL, wc was 35-3TL, the only meal we ate was a sandwich, which came to a figure of 5TL, it didn't look like much 🙂 We bought bread with our canned food, even that is not under 20TL.
  • Apart from these, I have small transportation costs such as city tramway.

By spending 1 night at the airport and 1 night on the train, I saved a lot of money for 3 night instead of 1 hotel expenses, not spending any money on food. I used this savings for car rental. It is worth both the fatigue and the expense for a very tiring yet beautiful 3 days.

  1. dear dear lady, hello next year with my girlfriend 😀 we have a norway tour plan, we are adventurous but we are planning to make our first novice in norway, which is famous for its nature, in our dreams… can we ask you on facebook when we have questions about the journey?

  2. Hello,
We have hesitations about route and planning. For a full 10-day nordic tour, starting in Hamburg, I think respectively Denmark, Sweden (Malmö, Gothenburg), then Norway (Oslo, Bergen), and Helsinki with ferry over Stockholm. Would it be too cramped? I'm having trouble planning. How should one behave and what should one pay attention to when distributing the days to the cities or sorting? waiting for your suggestions. Tks.

    • Hello,
Of course, you can go to 10 countries in 4 days, but you can only see the cities quickly. Even Norway alone deserves 10 days more than I think 🙂 I think it would be beneficial to reduce the places to go.

      Yours

  3. Hello, it is a very good article. Good luck to you. I have a question for you. You said you rented a car in Norway. Is it possible to rent with a normal Turkish license or did you get a document from turing? In other words, do EU countries recognize Turkish driver's licenses? Thank you.

  4. Thank you for a very enlightening article. It seems to have been a wonderful trip. Didn't you visit Flam because there was no time?
Features I see Bergen Flam tour a lot in recommendations. How were the highway tolls? Spain and France are very expensive in this pricing, is it equivalent there? Are there charges for frequent very short distances like Italy? Do you think we should take a train journey in the form of Stockholm Oslo and then Flam instead of the car. Will we see the beautiful places to see? Are there any extra charges on the train journey?

    • I didn't go to Flam because I didn't have time. Trolltunga adventure was more attractive to us :))

Most of the highways are toll roads, and since we preferred the shortest way, we used toll roads in order to move quickly. Of course, the highway fees are high, after all, we are talking about Norway 🙂

The train journey is also very enjoyable, if you do not intend to stop and go on the road, you can choose the train. The Oslo-Bergen railroad is known as one of the most beautiful railroad routes in the world.

  5. Hello…we have an 8-night Norway trip plan in March with friends…there are lots of places to visit, cities to see and activities to do..we are having difficulty in planning..1 night oslo-1 night flam-1 night bergen-1night tromdheim,2 nights lofoten Islands, 2 nights in Tromso, how do you think… is it very tiring.. Should I take Bergen for 2 nights before staying in Flam or going to Trondheim? I look forward to your suggestions..thanks

    • Hello,

I hope you get a chance to see the northern lights. Since I'm not going to the north of the country, I can't direct you correctly. You can visit Oslo and Bergen in one day, but if you are going to have activities such as fjord tour and trekking, you need to plan yourself accordingly. I will suggest you to take the train between Oslo-Bergen, it is one of the most beautiful train routes in the world.

      Yours

  6. Thanks for the information you provided, Northern Europe is one of the routes in my mind.
    Good luck, my loves.

  7. God brought you before me :)))
As I imagined, far from luxury but exactly as it should be…
You are very lucky. What you live like a utopian dream for someone who does not have the opportunity to go out of the region, not the country he lives in yet… But I also want to make my plans and have a holiday like yours. Thank you for your encouraging article.. Best regards..

  8. It really got me excited for Norway, which I was afraid to go to because it's too expensive 🙂 Well done to your hands and feet 🙂

  9. Hello; In our Norway trip we went this June, we had a nice trip for a total of nine nights, including Oslo for 1 night, Bergen train for 1 night, Bergen for 1 night, fjord tour for 1 night and a day on the ship, Alesund for one night and Thronheim 3 nights and one night on the return trip. Although we couldn't make the plans in advance, we made a very affordable trip. We spent time using the hotels in the city center and walking, eating with us or using the market supplements and the hotel's shared kitchen. In the places we went, we did not miss touristic activities such as cable cars and museums and places such as rotating restaurants. We completed the trip in a super way with 2.345.00 TL per person, including all our gifts. My mother, sister and I went on this journey together. What you need to decide when setting out is to be a tourist or to live there? I am one of those who travel by living 😉

  10. Ms. Sevil, you have been very stingy, but it is because it is very expensive..
If you are in love with nature, the place to visit is beautiful, even if it is not as cute as the black sea…

    • What does it have to do with stinginess? I really appreciated it and I was very envious. It was a very successful budget management. After all, he created an opportunity to go to another city. Rather than visiting 10.000 cities for 2 TL, only those who are curious about the unseen would prefer to visit 1000 cities for 10 TL each.

  11. Going to one of the most expensive countries in the world and spending less than most of us on vacation in Alaçatı, Bodrum, Antalya!

There are many things we need to tell our people, my dear. What a nice example to make a career and travel cheaply.

    • Thanks Kemalcim, it's all a matter of preference, of course. I love exploring new places, albeit in a miserable way 🙂

If we had met before, you could have provided it cheaper, smile emoticon shopping and your food is much cheaper if you buy fisherprice brand products from kiwi markets, which are abundant everywhere. They have sandwiches for 13 krona, hot meals that you can heat in the microwave for 30 krona. I live in stavanger, but the same application exists in all provinces, such as facebook pages. It's all in norwegian, but everyone here can speak english anyway. There, you can request to rent a car, house, boat, even a caravan or even ski equipment for the day. You could find a place to stay and a car without writing there beforehand. This means that it will be cheaper than companies. Even if you are lucky, you and your friend could come across a Turkish in the group and get your accommodation for free. You are really unlucky because you were late for the smile emoticon train. While others are planning, it can be cut in half for their planned future. The smile emoticon is also not certain, but it can be learned by asking. There is the Hungarian consulate at the side door of the metrocity mall in Istanbul. Schengen visa was cheaper there and the waiting period was 5 days smile emoticon I'm not sure about the price but I'm sure 2 of my friends bought it from there. If you are coming to Norway, I think the northern lights should be the first target, but it seems difficult in this season, unfortunately the frown emoticon has to come towards winter. And the mountains are best enjoyed in Kristiandsand. Of course, you have to live in Norway to know these. I wish I knew you before you came here frown emoticon
