Ayvalık is one of the best routes for a few days getaway close to Istanbul, of course Cunda when you've been to Ayvalık. My travel notes for the Aegean's delightful holiday resorts Ayvalık and Cunda are in this article. You will also find places to visit and food and beverage suggestions for Ayvalık and Cunda.

Transportation to Ayvalık – Journey from Istanbul to Ayvalık

We are up early in the morning on Thursday. at 07:30 İDO Yenikapı-Bursa ferry We tried to save time by shortening our way.

Even though the heavy rain that fell during the time you were on the ferry scared us a little, we came to Ayvalık by smelling the rain air without getting caught in the rain. The hotels we looked at in Cunda were quite expensive, so we arranged a hostel in Ayvalık. Our hotel was one of the Greek houses in the region of old Ayvalık. It was very enjoyable with its trapezoidal walls and sloping ceiling, which were renovated by trying to preserve its old state. Bird sounds and colorful flowers accompanied the view of Cunda and the islands from the terrace in front of the room.

Ayvalik Travel Notes

Ayvalık literally a resort town. There is a sweet holiday bustle in its narrow streets where you can find everything you are looking for. We are trying to catch the joys of this seaside town by making a short tour of Ayvalık. Macaron Neighborhood in Ayvalık is a place that must be visited by getting lost in its streets.

Of course, the day is on Tostçular Street. Ayvalık Toast We start with. A full energy store after the trip 🙂

After enjoying the Ayvalık toast, we go to Cunda. There are many rumors about the real name of this island, which is artificially connected to the mainland, but it is officially Ali Bey Island is referred to as. This name was given to the island in memory of Ali Çetinkaya.

The bridge connecting Cunda to the mainland is also known as Turkey's first Bosphorus bridge.

Cunda Travel Notes

Cunda is so crowded that you can't find a place for dinner at restaurants in this place we call a fishing village without a reservation. People are right to come here, they have such good appetizers that it's an understatement to say I ate my fingers. Octopus cold cuts and sea bream are my favorites as always. A dish called "hot grass" was added to them, which is an inedible, very, very delicious herb dish. The taste of herb dishes in the Aegean is different. We had similar happiness in Foça 🙂

Traveler's note: Be sure to have a HOT OT meal in Cunda.

The old Cunda houses, along the coast, trinket sellers, fish restaurants all come together so beautifully that when you see Ayvalık and the islands in front of them, you can't get enough of it. With the support of the Koç family, windmills have been added to this landscape that looks so beautiful to me. The ruins have been restored, a cozy cafe with a view from the top of the island and a valuable library have been added: Selim and Necdet Kent LibraryOne should not come to Cunda and leave without seeing it.

Ayvalık and Cunda's cats are famous. Since they were outnumbered, they could not stop fighting with each other, most of the puppies were injured.

While we are walking around Cunda, rain catches us, like other tourists, we too. Stone BrownWe take shelter in Istanbul, sip our sage with lemon, watch the swallows nesting on the roof and wait for the rain to stop. Gummy ice creamWhen we say bite, we take our sweet enthusiasm and return to our hostel with a beautiful view.

One day seems enough to tour Cunda properly. Wander around its old streets and enjoy a nice fish, as well as climb to the top and enjoy the view at the mill. If you have time, you can also enjoy the sea in the remote bays of the island. We couldn't do this because it was raining when we went.

About Papalina Fish

Papalina Fish
Papalina Fish

In the Ayvalık region of May, papalina fish I learned that it is the right time for you.

in the world only Ayvalik-Cunda This little fish was growing among Its real name is SPRA fish (Clupea Sprattus). Because of its similarity, it is often confused with Sardines. They come from the same family as anchovy. It is eaten crunchy like a cookie, as its bones are so flexible that it is almost nonexistent and they are so tiny.

I also had the opportunity to eat this fish at Cunda Fish House, but I must admit that the appetizers were so delicious that the fish was tasteless to me. This may be due to the fact that I am not very good with fish. If you go to Ayvalık, you can eat at Cunda.

Devil's Table

Devil's Table

The next morning, we have our breakfast against the view and set out for the Devil's Table. There are several rituals performed here, one of them is throwing money into the pit which is believed to be the foot of Satan 🙂

Since it is early in the morning, we take a few photos and set off towards Foça without being caught by the crowd of tour buses. We have 135 km of road, the weather is clear, it's a beautiful spring day...

  1. If you have come to Ayvalık Cunda, add diving activity to your must-do list. Ayvalık has the best diving spots in Turkey. Blog readers can get information about diving at ayvalikdalis.com during their holiday in Ayvalik-Cunda.

  2. Ayvalik City Club, About Yörük Mehmet's Place: It is a restaurant that sees a great treat after a terrible calculation, does not even ask if I will drink tea and coffee after the meal, perhaps for a fee, and hosts closed service personnel, but the food is extremely delicious. The place would be 9/10 if they fix the service.

  3. For those who go to Ayvalik, I can recommend Yoruk Mehmet's Place. It's at Gumruk on the beach. Whoever you ask, they will show you. Its other name was City Club if I remember correctly. I have not eaten the appetizers there anywhere else. I can go there even just for appetizers.

    • Aegean cuisine makes people fall in love with itself. Appetizers, herbs, fish… All of them are beautiful.
