2019 Public Holidays
2019 Public Holidays

When I was a white-collar worker, at the beginning of each year, I would remove the public holidays and prepare my annual travel plan accordingly. Even though I quit corporate life, most of my followers and my wife still determine their travel dates according to public holidays. For this reason, I did not break the tradition and prepared my article that includes my suggestions about public holidays and where to go during which holiday period.

When are the 2019 Public Holidays, which are the 2019 Public Holidays?

First, let's quickly take a look at when the 2019 public holidays are, which holiday comes on which day, how many days we can take a vacation on these dates, with or without leave.

New Year's Day, 1 January 2019, Tuesday

When 31 December, that is, New Year's Eve, coincided with a Monday evening, Tuesday 1 January became a holiday. Some workplaces also declared Monday a holiday or worked half a day. Combined with the weekend, those who took a full-time vacation got 4 days of vacation.

National Sovereignty and Children's Day, 23 April 2019, Tuesday

Although I like the combination of the official holiday with the weekend, such as Friday and Monday, the public holidays on Tuesday also give us the opportunity to have a 1-day holiday by using 4 day off, this is one of those beautiful holidays. With We Travellers UrdunWe will be in , we are waiting for you too!

Labor and Solidarity Day, 1 May 2019, Wednesday

May 1 is the only day public holiday that comes to the middle of the week. By combining the week, it is possible to have a holiday for 1 week, Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, Friday, using leave for 5 days.

Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, 19 May 2019, Sunday

Let there be no public holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday 🙂 Jokes aside, there is no good from May 19 this year.

Ramadan Feast 2019, 3-6 June 2019, Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday

This year, both Eid al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha will make us smile. Monday, June 3, is the eve (i.e. half-day holiday), Eid al-Fitr from Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6. It is possible to take a holiday for the whole week, only by taking a half day off on Monday and a full day off on Friday. June is also a good time to take a vacation, the long vacation of the year can be planned here. We Morocco with Many TravellersWe will be in , we are waiting for you too!

Martyrs and Veterans Remembrance Day, 15 July 2019, Monday

What did I say, I like Monday and Friday public holidays. Ideal for long weekend trips without permission. And in the middle of summer, where not to go 🙂 We will be in Burdur with Many Travellers, we are waiting for you too!

Eid al-Adha, 10-14 August 2019, Saturday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday

The feast begins with the eve of Saturday, August 10 and ends on Wednesday. Thursday-Friday is an ideal period to take a full-week vacation with 2 days off. We will be in Georgia with Many Travellers, and we are waiting for you!

Victory Day, 30 August 2019, Friday

Here is my favorite type of public holiday. Long weekend 3 days is an ideal period for trips to nearby places, within Turkey.

Republic Day, 29 October 2019, Tuesday

Many public holidays this year coincided with a Tuesday. This means that we will do a lot of 4-day trips. These periods can be ideal for travels to nearby countries or Europe.

Special Periods

In addition to public holidays, some important periods are closely related to our travel plans. When do semester breaks, Ramadan, students' summer vacation start and end? Come on, let's see.

When Does the 2019 Semester Break Start and End?

Holiday periods for students and parents are determined according to the education periods of the children rather than official holidays. For this reason, it is very important for them when the semester, the half-year holiday, the 15 holidays start and end.

According to the 2018-2019 academic year calendar, the semester break starts on Saturday, January 19, 2019 and ends on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

In fact, this period is important not only for students and parents, but also for everyone who likes to travel during the winter period. For example, I take care not to make plans for places close to home or abroad, especially during the semester because everywhere is very crowded and expensive. That's why I make plans for the weeks after the semester ends. After the semester is over, we are going to Kars with Many Travellers, we are waiting for you.

When Does the 2019 Academic Year Start and End?

Another important period for students and parents is summer vacation. So let's take a look at the summer vacation dates.

The 2018-2019 academic year will end on Friday, 14 June 2019. Probably no one will go to school in the last week of school, as Ramadan Feast will intervene.

The 2019-2020 academic year will start on Monday, September 17, 2018.

As soon as the schools are closed, an influx of summer areas will start, and this period is of interest to everyone. If I'm going to have a summer vacation again, I prefer to do it in June before the school holidays or after the schools open in September. Thus, I can have a quieter and more economical holiday.

When Does the Month of Ramadan 2019 Begin and End?

One of the factors that determine our travel calendar is the month of Ramadan. The 2019 Ramadan Month will start on Monday, May 6 and will continue until Monday, June 3, Monday. If you are fasting, this period may not be your preferred time to travel.

I hope the information I shared about 2019 public holidays and special periods will be of use to you while making your travel plans for 2019.

Let's plan now! Stay on track!
