I think we agree that Antalya and its surroundings are a paradise for culture, sea and nature tourism. Uçansu Waterfall, 58 kilometers from Antalya city center, is one of the natural beauties of Antalya. There are two waterfalls, Lower and Upper. How to get to Uçansu Waterfall, is there an entrance fee, things to consider when going waiting for you in this article.

Uçansu Waterfall – Serik, Antalya

Although it is called Uçansu Waterfall, we are actually talking about two waterfalls. Lower Uçansu Waterfall is called Uçan 1 and Upper Uçansu Waterfall is Uçan 2, I will explain the details below. While talking about the place where there are two waterfalls is called Uçansu Waterfall, I will continue as if it is the only waterfall.

Uçansu Waterfall is located within the borders of Akçapınar Village, which is connected to the Gebiz town of Serik district of Antalya. This place is located 58 kilometers from Antalya city center. The waterfall is located on the Uçansu Stream, which was formed by the merging of the Havutlu and Bal Streams, and 400 meters above sea level.

The waterfall is located on the St. Paul Road, which is the second longest marked hiking route in our country. Those who walk the Saint Paul route have the chance to see these waterfalls.

Lower Uçansu Waterfall (Flying 1)

Lower Uçansu Waterfall (Flying 1)
Lower Uçansu Waterfall (Flying 1)

The waterfall, reached by following the Uçansu Waterfall signs, is the first waterfall known as the Lower Uçansu Waterfall or Uçan 1. A pool called the "giant cauldron" was formed in front of the waterfall. The depth of the pool, which is sparkling and reflects the color of the surrounding greenery, can reach up to 4 meters in rainy times. This place is suitable for swimming, the shore is shallow, it gets deeper as you go. The heights of the waterfalls are shown differently in each source, some say 25-30 meters for the lower waterfall, and some say 60. That's why I can't give a clear height information. By the way, this place is much more beautiful than it looks in the photos!

There is a very wide opening where the giant boiler is, you can come here with your car. There is no place where you can meet your needs such as eating, drinking water, toilet, there was a facility in the past, but it burned down and a new facility was not established after the fire. You have to bring all your needs with you, so if you come. The area was very clean when I went, I hope this clean state continues in the crowded season.

Also, there is no internet connection where the waterfall is located.

There is Upper Uçansu Waterfall at a point where you can reach some parts of the Lower Uçansu Waterfall by car and some on foot. Here, a smaller giant cauldron was formed where the waterfall spills, and this cauldron is called the "King's Pool".

Since there are no signposts to reach the King's Pool, it would be better to go here with someone who knows the area or with walking groups. Since I was traveling alone, I chose not to go out in order not to take risks, so I got the photo from a dear friend.

Best Time to Go to Uçansu Waterfall

The best time to go to Uçansu Waterfall may be spring or the first months of summer. While the water level is high in the rainy season in the spring, there may be times when the water is completely cut off in the dry season in the summer. Although I went in March, the amount of water flowing from the waterfall was quite low, as there was very little rain in the 2020-2021 winter season. However, in March, I couldn't swim in the pool that formed in front of the waterfall as the weather was quite cool outside.

Where is Uçansu Waterfall?

Uçansu Waterfall is 58 kilometers from Antalya city center. It is located within the borders of Akçapınar Village of Gebiz town of Serik district. You can go up to 10 kilometers from the waterfall by marking the Uçansu Waterfall, which can be seen on Google Maps. After that, you have to follow the newly opened road and the newly made signs.

How to go to Uçansu Waterfall?

You have three options to go to the waterfall:

  1. with your own vehicle,
  2. With groups organizing trekking or day trips,
  3. By following the route of St. Paul's Way walking, that is, on foot.
How to go to Uçansu Waterfall?

I will give you directions on how to go with your own vehicle:

While driving on the Antalya-Alanya road, you turn north from the Abdurrahmanlar-Gebiz junction towards Gebiz. After passing Gebiz, you continue on the village roads, the road gets narrower, but it is easy to proceed because it is asphalt. After Gebiz, you will often see the signs of the waterfall. Akçapınar is the last village you will pass through to go to the waterfall. Unfortunately, the signs at the exit of the village have been removed, so continue with your navigation in order not to miss the turn here. After leaving the village, the road is mostly stabilized and the last 10 kilometers of road before the waterfall is completely dirt road. This road has just been opened and corrected, and signs for Uçansu Waterfall are often placed. Thus, you can easily find the waterfall by following the signs. You will see a last hut 200-300 meters before you reach the waterfall, if you continue left from the hut, you will reach the Lower Uçansu Waterfall.

If you continue right from the hut, you will continue towards Yukarı Uçansu. But at some point you had to walk. I did not go up to the waterfall because I went alone and did not want to go on the hiking route alone without knowing the way. You can get here using a walking route app like Wikiloc.

Uçansu Waterfall Entrance Fee and Visiting Hours 2021

Uçansu Waterfall does not have any entrance fee. There is a club at the entrance but no one issuing tickets. Since there is no ticket and entrance control, there is no control over visiting hours. In other words, you can go to Uçansu Waterfall on the day you want, whenever you want and free of charge.

Things to Watch Out for at Uçansu Waterfall

I would like to give special attention to the section on nature routes, because recently, with the influence of social media, the routes that used to be little known and only those interested in mountaineering or hiking have become places where many people go just to take pictures.

  • If you are going to the waterfall, I recommend you to take a swimsuit, bikini and towel with you, it will be very enjoyable to swim in the pools formed in front of the waterfalls, especially in hot weather.
  • It is worth remembering that swimming in fresh water is always much more difficult than swimming in salt water, as the buoyancy of the water is lower. So if you don't know how to swim well, I suggest you not go to the deep sections and take risks.
  • Climbing into King's Pool may look very sexy, but don't go out alone if you're inexperienced with trail-following. The phone signal is very weak in the area where the waterfall is located, and the internet does not work at all. So if you get lost it can be hard to find. For similar reasons, I keep a whistle with me when I go hiking, and you might consider throwing one in your bag.
  • As I mentioned in the article, there is no facility in the area where the waterfall is located, do not forget to take your food and drinks with you.
  • Do not leave your garbage in the nature, do not damage the things you see and do not try to take the things you find with you!

I hope you found answers to your questions about Uçansu.

Stay healthy.
