The routeless traveler Mehmet Genç the first book as well as the second book Road Stories – 2 I read the book as well. In this article, I tried to collect my comments about the book Rotasız Seyyah Yol Hikayeleri 2.

About Routeless Traveler Mehmet Genç

If you are reading this article, you probably already know Rotasız Traveller Mehmet Genç. Let me give a brief summary though. Mehmet Genç has been traveling the world since 2010 and writes his road stories on his blog called Rotasız Seyyah. Although I would summarize it as road stories, unlike other travelers, Mehmet visits tribes that no one has been to and does physical activities that few people have tried.

One of the reasons behind Mehmet's success is the writing language in his blog, social media accounts and books that draws you in. There is a big difference between telling an event that happened to you and telling a story, and Mehmet is really successful in storytelling.

I started following the Traveller without Route before he went on a trip to South America. The way he travels, the places he goes is very different from many people who call themselves “travellers” in Turkey, which sets him apart from other travel bloggers. If you still don't follow (I don't think so), you can browse Rotasizseyyah.com or find it easily on social media.

My Comments on The Traveler Without Route – Road Stories 2 Book

I'm not a book critic, and it's not my place to comment on literary terms. I just write my feelings and thoughts when I read the books as a reader. If we come to the book of Rotationless Traveler Yol Stories 2;

  • I found the second book more gripping than the first book because the piecemeal storytelling in the first book was replaced by a chronological diary. I enjoyed this situation more because I like to read books with the idea of "what's next".
  • Again, unlike the first book, it was better to access the photographs in the book with color printing. Going to the photo with the QR code in the first book partly took them out of the book.
  • I was also very happy to find stories that were not included in social media accounts, because I had already followed his travel very closely, and finding topics that we had not heard about on social media increased my curiosity about the book.
  • In addition to this, of course, it is nice that he also includes the topics he shares, because remembering "Oh yes, such an event also happened" keeps you in the book.
  • It's hard not to be impressed while reading human stories, especially the Afghanistan chapter. I won't give too many tips, you will understand when you read it.

Do not say that you always write positive comments, I have a few minor criticisms:

  • Mehmet repeated the sentences “I have been traveling the world for 7 years” and “I have been traveling around the world for 3 years without returning to my country” over and over in the book, and after a while one feels that “yes, I understand you are traveling”.
  • In some places, there are comments such as "keş" example, "There is also this in Turkey" that comes to my mind right now. At this point, I couldn't help but wonder if he would travel to our own country first, learn about our culture and continue on that way, was it jealousy? 🙂
  • Finally, the subject of religion seemed a little over-underlined to me, and there were places where I thought it was unnecessary. Maybe it was because of the geography visited, or maybe I felt that way, I never had such a perception in the first book.

Of course, I love to read travel books, but unfortunately, the books I read; The local ones are mostly not satisfactory in terms of writing language and content, and the foreign ones have a serious translation problem. There is a book that I have found very successful in translation and that I have just read, I will write about it in detail, but for those who are curious, I recommend that you read the book Against the Wind from Garaj Kitap. As I mentioned at the beginning, Mehmet's book is absolutely satisfying both in terms of writing and content. I recommend it to anyone who likes to read travel books. The sale price of the book on online sites is 29,63 TL.

When the book first came out, Mehmet told me that he wanted to send me a signed book as a gift, but I did not accept it because I wanted to go and buy it. So that I have a little salt in the soup. Like the first book, I bought two again. I'll be gifting one to a follower soon, one for myself and one to gift. You can follow my social media accounts.

Stay on the road…

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.

  1. I read Road Stories 1. The arrival of that book to me, to Mongolia is a different story 🙂 I dream of reaching both. I've read your thoughts on other books as well, but I won't write them all one by one. For now, I read when I find a book, not when I have time. I will find them all one day, or they will find me.

  2. I was very surprised at first about Bacha Bazi mentioned on page 256, but the same events happened in Dikili this week, turning my surprise into sadness ????
