What Is The Secret Of These Ladybugs?

I am one of those who believe that the ladybug brings more happiness than luck. When we were children, we flew a few ladybugs by saying, "I'm going to fly insect, your mother will buy you slippers". But then I don't know if the ladybugs decreased or we grew up, I couldn't see ladybugs everywhere. Until you reach the Uludaz summit…

Kahramanmaraş Uludaz Mountain At its peak, ladybugs hibernate and wake up in May-June each year. This awakening also turns into a magnificent natural phenomenon, because thousands of ladybugs cover every spot on the summit. There is no clear finding as to why ladybugs prefer this region, research continues. Similar ladybug populations were observed in other parts of Turkey, but nowhere else was as dense as Uludaz.

These tiny cute insects are also very useful for agriculture, as they feed on lice and other insects that harm plants. However, as in all matters, we learn that the number decreases every year at the Uludaz summit due to nature destroyers, the pesticides we use, and our careless behavior when we go to see ladybugs.

Ladybugs Festival and KADAK

The festival is held on the skirts of Uludaz peak, which is at an altitude of approximately 65, 2300 km in the south-west direction of Kahramanmaraş. The festival, which was organized for the first time by KADAK (Kahramanmaraş Search and Rescue Outdoor Sports and Radio Association) in 2008, continued in the following years with the support of the Büyük Sır village headman. Well done 🙂

While the festival attracts attention especially from the mountaineering clubs of the surrounding provinces, it is a candidate to become a nationwide festival with the sponsorship of n11.com.

KADAK Chairman Sait Abi and members of KADAK are really hospitable and they work hard to make the ladybug awakening in Uludaz heard in Turkey and even in the world.

The festival lasts for two days, tents are set up in a camping area near the summit, meals are eaten and games are played. There is a summit hike to see the ladybugs and of course it ends with Maraş Ice Cream.

I hope this wonderful natural phenomenon is seen by more people, but in the meantime, the protection measures increase.

Last year, I promised for this year, but this year I can't go because of my workload. Maybe we'll go together next year, reader 🙂

Stay on track!

"Does he who reads a lot or travels a lot?" I started by saying, I am still looking for an answer. I travel after my dreams and share my experiences on my blog, newspapers and magazines. I love to travel, read, write and dream.
