This is a garden established in Teylingen Castle to grow fruit and vegetables. Keukenhof Castle was built in 1641. Jan David Zocher, the architect of Vondelpark, and his son, Louis Paul Zocher, landscaped the castle's garden. In 1949, 20 flower growers united and sowed the seeds of today's Keukenhof park. The park opened its doors in 1950 and is today the most important flower park in the Netherlands and the world.
In the park, where you can see 32 different types of tulips on an area of 800 hectares, you can see flowers for only 8 weeks each year and a different theme is determined each year. With this year's theme, "flower power", Keukenhof is celebrating the park's 70th anniversary and waving to hippies and flower children.
In Keukenhof Park, there are small concept gardens, tulip gardens stretching like a colorful carpet for meters, and pavilion areas where different exhibitions and events are held.

Keukenhof is located about 40 kilometers west of Amsterdam. You can get to Keukenhof by renting a car, by bike, by public transport from Amsterdam or by purchasing a package tour.
- If you are going by your own vehicle or by bicycle, you can reach it by using the A4 or A44 motorways.
- If you are coming by public transport; You can find direct buses from Amsterdam city centre, Shiphol Airport, Harleem. You can even buy a combined ticket in the form of bus + entrance ticket when purchasing Keukenhof tickets.
- If you've been to Amsterdam during tulip time, you'll see many agents selling Keukenhof tours as you wander around the city. You can choose one of them.
Coming to Keukenhof by bike from Amsterdam can be a bit long and difficult for the uninitiated. Instead, you can take advantage of the rental bicycles at the entrance of the park, and you can tour the park by bicycle.
How Much Time Should I Take to Visit Keukenhof Park?
Keukenhof Park is open to visitors every day between 08:00 in the morning and 19:00 in the evening, the ticket office closes at 18:00, so you have to enter the park before 18:00.
I recommend that you set aside at least half a day to visit the park, and if possible, come early in the morning. Especially if you went on the weekend, families with children start to arrive at noon, so it would be a good idea to visit the areas you want to see before they arrive.
